The Difference Between “No Added Sugar” & “Sugar Free” on Packaging

Hmm… no added sugar vs sugar free. These are two terms most consider interchangeable. Both seem to imply that the sugar content is non-existent, so surely either/or is fine for you to consume.

Are Protein Bars Good For You?

Nutrition bars/energy bars/sports bars/protein bars – whatever you call them, watch out for these deceptively high fat, high sugar snacks!

‘Protein’ is certainly the buzz-word of 2016. When you think of the word ‘protein’ what do you envision? Is it workout-crazy tigers & tigresses hitting the gym hard on Instagram? Is it ‘clean eating’ memes with just lean steak and vegetables for your daily inspo? Or is it big muscles, built by the beautiful protein we just all can’t seem to get enough of?

Best Protein Energy Bars For IBS

Like anybody else who loves to snack, I love protein energy bars because they’re simply the best solution to settling sugary cravings, with no guilt. But that’s not to say all protein bars are good for you – a lot of them are packed with sugar, syrups, flavourings, etc. which don’t agree with IBS sufferers, so selecting the perfect energy bar for you is essential and some consideration should be taken before tucking in.

Healthy Recipes: Gluten-Free Raspberry Coconut Fruit Scones

I’m normally pretty good when it comes to saying no to pastries & baked goods. To me, they always taste far too buttery and you get that weird dry flaky feeling in your mouth for hours afterwards (yes – I’m looking at you croissant/muffin/apple Danish).

But sometimes – just sometimes – a slight craving comes on that I just can’t fight… mainly because supermarkets are evil and have started promoting fresh smelling pastries right beside their entrances… which of course makes it really really difficult to refuse a trusty scone.

Healthy Indulgent Chocolate: Hnina Gourmet

Those two words never look right next to one another – healthy… and indulgent. The dictionary even defines ‘indulgent’ as being anything but healthy….

“Indulgent: willing to allow someone to have or enjoy something even though it may not be proper, healthy, appropriate, etc.”

Just think about the everyday items you’d associate with these two words – oxymoronic to say the least….

Not the same. And I’m sure one makes your mouth water far more than the other (no guessing which one that is).

Healthy Recipes: IBS Friendly Low-Sugar Banana Bread Recipe

I come across a lot of banana bread recipes on my quest for good, wholesome and healthy bakes and to be quite honest I’m always largely dissatisfied. They either include way too much sugar, a lot of butter, or don’t have enough texture in them in the final bake, making them just like a cake.

I’m not sure about anyone else, but when I make a sweet loaf I want it to be dense, easy to spread upon and, above all else, healthy enough for me to have several slices.
