Ranked: The Unhealthiest Ben & Jerry’s Flavours

You don’t need to be a health food junkie to know that Ben & Jerry’s (or ice cream in general) is unhealthy.

Sugar, fat and calories are the sinfully delicious trifecta which comprises the majority of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. But how many calories are in each serving? And is there a ‘healthier’ flavour of Ben & Jerry’s which we should be scoffing instead?

To answer all your burning questions, we’ve ranked Ben & Jerry’s unhealthiest ice cream varieties (based on calories, sugar and fat percentages) for you, below.

10. Strawberry Cheesecake

One of the most decadent tasting, yet one of the healthiest. This flavour might not be bursting with real fruit, but it does have significantly less sugar and fat than many other varieties.

Nutrition (per 2-scoop serving) % RDA
Calories 260 kcal 13%
Saturated Fat 7g 35%
Sugar 23g 26%
Protein 4g 8%

9. Chocolate Fudge Brownie

Another indulgent-sounding flavour, Choc Fudge Brownie might pile on the saturated fat, but saved itself with a lower (but still sinful) sugar content than other flavours.

Nutrition (per 2-scoop serving) % RDA
Calories 260 kcal 13%
Saturated Fat 8g 40%
Sugar 27g 30%
Protein 5g 10%

8. Caramel Chew Chew

As you’d expect this flavour has quite a lot of sugar in it, although calories are slightly less than varities higher up the list. We rate it #8.

Nutrition (per 2-scoop serving) % RDA
Calories 240 kcal 12%
Saturated Fat 9g 45%
Sugar 22g 24%
Protein 4g 8%

7. Cherry Garcia

One of our favourites, Cherry Garcia is unfortunately high in saturated fat and sugar. Swap for Ben & Jerry’s Frozen Yogurt variety if you’re looking for a cleaner cherry dessert.

Nutrition (per 2-scoop serving) % RDA
Calories 260 kcal 13%
Saturated Fat 9g 45%
Sugar 23g 26%
Protein 4g 8%

6. Vanilla

You might expect plain ol’ Vanilla to be #1. Nope. This variety is packed with double cream, which means one thing: lots and lots of fat.

Nutrition (per 2-scoop serving) % RDA
Calories 250 kcal 13%
Saturated Fat 10g 50%
Sugar 20g 22%
Protein 4g 8%

5. Peanut Butter Cup

This was a difficult one to rank as it has a much higher percentage of protein (thanks to the peanuts) than other varieties. However, there is no denying the saturated fat and calorie content (again, because of the peanuts), so it’s #5 from us.

Nutrition (per 2-scoop serving) % RDA
Calories 370 kcal 19%
Saturated Fat 14g 70%
Sugar 25g 28%
Protein 7g 14%

4. Half Baked

A fan favourite, Half Baked makes it into the top half of our unhealthiest list, thanks to the crazy amounts of saturated fat and calories.

Nutrition (per 2-scoop serving) % RDA
Calories 270 kcal 14%
Saturated Fat 14g 70%
Sugar 27g 30%
Protein 4g 8%

3. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Everyone has tried this one before. Unfortunately, Cookie Dough is one of the worst B&J flavours for you, with a staggering 75 PER CENT OF SATURATED FAT.

Nutrition (per 2-scoop serving) % RDA
Calories 280 kcal 14%
Saturated Fat 15g 75%
Sugar 25g 28%
Protein 4g 8%

2. Phish Food

Chunky chocolate fish and marshmallow swirls is a recipe for, well, oodles of sugar. Also, with the most calories of the bunch per serving, you’ll certainly need to eat this one with moderation in mind.

Nutrition (per 2-scoop serving) % RDA
Calories 290 kcal 15%
Saturated Fat 9g 45%
Sugar 32g 36%
Protein 4g 8%

1. Chunky Monkey

And top of our list is Chunky Monkey. A cute name but a frightening ingredients list, this flavour has a huge 90 PER CENT OF YOUR DAILY SATURATED FAT IN JUST 2 SCOOPS. We’ll just let that sink in for a moment…

Nutrition (per 2-scoop serving) % RDA
Calories 300 kcal 15%
Saturated Fat 18g 90%
Sugar 28g 31%
Protein 4g 8%
