How to Treat Yourself | Coeliac Awareness Week

While the range of food on offer for coeliacs and those with gluten intolerances has expanded rapidly over the last few years, there is still a lot to be desired for those seeking a quick treat. Most notably, treats which are convenient.

I’m talking about cupcakes, brownies, etc. which, last a minute on the lips (and taste great for it) but are often more effort than they’re worth.

For instance, think about when you last visited a cafe; did every individually wrapped muffin have a full list of ingredients on them? Did the homemade bakewell slice explain the possible allergens or whether it had been made in a gluten-free zone?

The answer is most likely no.

That’s why I was so pleased to find bakerdays.

Bakerdays makes gorgeous cakes which you can order online, and personalise for any occasion. Within their repertoire of recipes are traditional sponge, lemon drizzle, choc chip, as well as dairy-free and gluten-free varieties.

Naturally, when I ordered I got the gluten-free variety which, with its rich marzipan icing, reminded me of yummy birthday cake.

When you order, you get a choice of small, medium, large or – and this is genius – letterbox size. The latter fits through your letterbox so that you needn’t be in to receive the parcel. Just imagine ordering a mid-week pick-me-up, only to come home to a delicious personalised treat on your doormat. Ideal!

When you receive a bakerdays cake, they provide a list of ingredients with the cake, so you know exactly what you’re getting. The cake comes in a little cake tin which you can wash and re-use at home (a dream if you’re a Tupperware hoarder like me).

If you haven’t already tried a bakerdays letterbox cake, I recommend giving them a go. Inexpensive, convenient, and tasty. When else have you heard those three adjectives to describe a gluten-free product?

I rest my case.

That’s right – use the discount code WELLBEINGJOURNAL15 (expires on the 30th June) for 15% off bakerdays goods. What are you waiting for?
